NANCY BACON
Crisp luminous watercolor landscapes. Highly detailed oils, rich and painterly. Nancy Bacon’s mastery of Watercolor and Oil represents a timeless classical style that is clear in its vision, precise in its execution yet light and vibrant in expression.
A style with the ability to capture a moment, a mood or simply the silence.
Welcome to the world of Nancy Bacon.
From the time she was a teenager Nancy Bacon has been active in the art world and by the time she graduated from High School Nancy she had not only already had her own one-woman show and professional portraits to her credit but had also won the Bank Of America Fine Arts scholarship.
Nancy attended San Jose State University under the mentorship of the noted Maynard Dixon Stuart where she earned her BFA in Figure and Portrait Painting.
Newly graduated but already with several years of experience Nancy was recruited by 20th Century Fox Studios as a project artist where, along with other accomplishments, she painted a portrait of director George Lucas.
It was during this period in her career that Nancy’s portrait paintings started to become popular in galleries on both East and West coast.
Grounded in classical painting centered around the human figure, with its rigorous technical demands, Nancy found herself seeking to capture the energy of the outdoors in the same fashion as she would capture a facial expression.
Painting on location in areas such as the Sierra Nevada, The Rockies and extensively along the California coast (which she calls home), Nancy discovered her opportunity to capture that energy she was looking for.
Very likely nothing illustrates this better than her painting of a shoreline reflected off of an early morning mountain lake.
Her talent for defining these moments has earned Nancy national recognition in exhibits such as the prestigious “Art for the Parks” annual show.
“Painting a portrait of an individual is an exercise in capturing the soul of an individual, who that person is… a landscape is an exercise in capturing a moment in time.”
With hundreds of paintings sold into homes and galleries throughout North America as well as her own successful art school,onbacon.artwork@yahoo.com Bacon’s application of traditional technique into contemporary compositions continues to delight both her students and her audience.
